Miss Vitis

This story began over a century ago, at the hands of my grandfather.

STORY

This story began with José Marinho, my maternal grandfather, a man of vision, serene courage, and a quiet restlessness that always drove him further. While still young, he crossed the Atlantic driven by the ambition to build a future according to his dreams. It was in Brazil that he met Etelvina Alves, the love of his life, with whom he returned to Portugal to shape his destiny.

Together they put down roots in the Douro, a land that deeply captivated him and where an intense connection to the vine and wine was born. But true stories are not made without trials. Life imposed its own rhythm, with pauses, detours and silences, placing ellipses in the path of that dream, never extinguishing it, only postponing its time.

A family legacy

This is the story of a family legacy that could have remained only in the pages of a book or in the shadows of black and white photographs. It took time, dedication, and a few helping hands for my desire to touch the land to become a reality.

The unique way of life of the people of the Douro, the richness and diversity of its lands, and the challenges faced firsthand awakened in me the desire to make up for lost time. Paying homage to the vision and effort of José Marinho.

“My life project”

At the root of this project lie three timeless forces: the passion that drives us, the love that binds us, and the work that defines us. It is from this union that a dream once postponed is reborn, now transformed into a fulfilled promise.
